BUTLER COUNTY COUPLE CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING
Butler Pa., Oct 17. -- At their home near Petersville, where they started
life together 50 years ago, Peter W. Thomas and wife Sarah Dufford
Thomas, Friday received the greetings of their eight children and all but
one of their living grandchildren.
The aged bride and groom are in good health, enjoy life and take part in
the affairs of the home and farm as they did 50 years ago. Mr Thomas,
who is 87, is a native of Wilkes Barre, Pa. and came to Butler County
with his parents in 1853, settling in Buttercup, near Petersville. He
started a store at Buttercup and later worked as a millwright. Mrs.
Thomas was born in Luzerne County, Pa., 73 years ago, and came to this
County with her parents, Philip and Elizabeth Dufford, in 1838.
The children are:
Philip S. of Duquesne, Pa.; Dr. Victor F. of Evans City; George E. of
Butler; James D. of Evans City; Elizabeth K. , wife of Charles Wible of
Penn Township; Emma M. Bracken of Butler; Albert M. of Butler, and
Roscoe A. at home in Connoquenessing Township.
The grandchildren present were:
Elizabeth Wayland and Myron Thomas of Duquesne; Lester, Ethel, Allen,
Genevieve, Frank, Loyal and Devand Thomas of Evans City; Oliver, Arthur
and Velma Thomas of Butler; Floyd Bracken of Butler; Hazel, Harry and
William Wible of Penn Township; Harry, Leola Albert and Lawrence of
Connoquenessing Township.
