Ruth Leone Slater, 91, of Laurelbrooke Landing, 133 Laurelbrooke Drive Brookville, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at McKinley Health Center, Brookville.
Born Aug. 21, 1919, in Clarion, she was the daughter of the late Wayne Harrison Slater and Esther Emiline Kahle Slater.
She graduated from Clarion State Teachers College and taught school for many years. She was later was employed by the Social Welfare Office in Clarion, retiring from there. In 1967 she moved with her parents from Shippenville to Corsica, where she remained until 1999 when she became a resident at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville.
She was a very religious person and a member of the Alpha Assembly of God in Clarion and was very active in various aspects of church life. She particularly enjoyed her role as a Sunday school teacher. She was an avid reader and an animal lover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbur Wayne Slater, Harry Alvin Slater and Richard Eugene Slater; and two sisters, Anna Isabel Caravan and Anita May Brolon.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clarion Cemetery in Clarion with Pastor Randy L. Evans officiating. Interment will be in Clarion Cemetery, Clarion.
