Thomas is said to have moved to his grandfather's old homestead "Closeburn" in Carin Castle Parish of Antrim County around 1755. If this date is correct, he would have been nearly 90 years old at that time. Although we have almost no other information about him, it is interesting that all of his known children (Thomas, James, John, Robert, and Hugh), are names that were also given to five of his father's sons and to his son Thomas III's five sons. All of his sons, with the possible exception of Hugh and John, emigrated to Pennsylvania. John settled within ten miles of Pennsylvania in Northern Deleware, and Hugh remained in Delaware.
