It would appear that John Henry Markland first married Elizabeth, who died shortly after, probably in childbirth. He then married her sister Mary Louisa, or Louisa. Their census record in 1850 shows only their own children and non of the age who could have been a child of Elizabeth, so if she did die in childbirth, the child did not survive either.
